Free Satellite Radios
Yesterday, C3SR stated that, “If the merger is approved, that at a minimum all satellite radio subscribers should be given a free interoperable receiver.” There is a catch though… “These interoperable receivers should also include AM, FM, and HD capability.”
While I have never been a fan of C3SR, I must applaud them for finally doing something that is actually taking satellite radio subscribers into consideration should the merger be approved. It would appear that C3SR sees the writing on the wall with regard to whether or not the merger will gain approval.
[ C3SR Filing ]
Position: Long Sirius, XM.
Well, That changes things I take my prior post, “At least they are finally looking out for subcribers”, back. That only makes a satellite radio more expensive for subcribers that want satellite radio only, when these new free ones break.
cs3r go home
I say hell no. SIRI and XMSR have invested billions to build this market and the competition does not deserve a free ride. If terrestial radio in the form of HD radio wants to be included then they should pay 90% of our development costs to date, plus future royalties in the billions from their advertising revenues. HD radio has not even been accepeted as a viable product by the market yet. In fact, its more of the same crap.
